The conference is organized by the International Association for Plant Biotechnology (IAPB) - New Zealand Chapter and supported by Plant& Food Research. The Organizing committee is developing a programme covering diverse research areas of plant biotechnology. A number of leading scientists will be invited to update the progress and directions in different research areas at the conference. Richard will be giving a keynote speech at this event, and Osmat is also invited to run a workshop as the speaker.

Invited by the STS, Richard will attend the forum to share his expertise in Open Innovation in Science and Technology.

Established by the department of Biotechonology, Governement of Indian under an agreement with UNESCO. Regional Center for Biotechnology (RCB) is designed to be a center of excellence in biotechnology with intimate contributions from the countries of the region and academic institutions from the rest of the world. Prof. Richard Jefferson is invited to give a presentation titled as 'Disruption by Design: Biological Open Source, its origins and its future' on the 2nd Meeting of the Programme Advisory Committee (PAC) of RCB to help the center shaping the strategy planning for academic and research programmes.

This two-day summit in Abu Dhabi brings together members of the World Economic Forums network of Global Agenda Councils from over 80 countries. The global experts will identify the latest trends and explore risks on the uniquely designed topics such as food security, climate change, financial stability and geopolitical risk. Richard is on his third term on the Global Agenda Council on the Intellectual Property System, with over a dozen other thought leaders in IP, and will be working to increase transparency and equity in the system.

Invited by Centre for Society and Genomics in the Netherlands, Richard Jefferson will attend the Centre for BioSystems Genomics (CBSG) workshop on Open Souce Biotech as the Keynote speaker at Wageningen University. Richard will be presenting Cambia's experience with Biological Open Source, our views on open sourced research and technology and life sciences enabled innovation and how equitable innovation for negelected opportunities or weak market signals can only be achieved through patents being a key part of a new standard of open, transparent and public, global innovation cartography.
Society and Genomics International Network Conference
29-30 September 2011, Brussels, Belgium
The International Network Conference on Ethical and Social Aspects for IPRs for the Life Sciences- Agrifood and Health, is organized by Centre for Society and Genomics of the Netherlands and held on the 29-30 September 2011 in Brussels. Richard Jefferson is invited to give The Keynote Lecture, titled "Beyond BIOS: Innovation Cartography as a Systemic response to System Dysfunction". In the presentation, he will outline the origins of and lessons from Cambia's work, including the BIOS initiative and Patent Lens, and the steps necessary to create a disruptive open global platform to render the innovation system transparent, understandable and navigable, and to create a system of equitable access to the Zeroth Human Right: 'freedom to innovate'.

The Consortium for Science, Policy and Outcomes (CSPO) at Arizona State University is an intellectual network aimed at enhancing the contribution of science and technology to society.
